I Tested Colour Analysis at Home… Then Cleared My Wardrobe

I’ve always wondered why some clothes make me look radiant while others leave me looking tired — even when I love them. So I tested colour analysis at home using AI… and the results completely changed how I see my wardrobe. In this video I identify my colour season, go through my wardrobe piece by piece, and share what I’m keeping, removing, and how I make certain colours still work for me. This video also includes a collaboration with sustainable fashion brand Lintico, who kindly gifted four dresses for me to style — two within my colour palette and two outside it. I show how I finesse each piece so it still feels harmonious and wearable.

Hi, I’m Deborah, a 58-year-old content creator from Melbourne, Australia, and the creator behind Deborah After 50. A few years ago, I realised I was living on autopilot—always rushing, buying more, and keeping up with everyone else. That realisation led me to completely rethink my life and, ultimately, the direction of my YouTube channel.

Today, I create honest, thoughtful content for women navigating life after 50. I share real conversations about menopause, confidence, intentional living, simplifying our homes and lives, my 20kg weight-loss journey, and finding joy in the everyday. My goal is to remind women that this stage of life isn’t about becoming less—it’s about becoming more of who we really are. I believe life after 50 isn’t a winding down. It’s a new beginning.

I don’t know. I’m I’m addicted to chatting GPT. If you ever have a little bit of time and you’d like to analyze your colors, go for it. It’s so much fun. Hello friends and welcome back. As you know, if you’ve been following along, you know that I’ve lost a bit of weight over the last 6 months. And in actual fact, I’ve lost three dress sizes, which means that a lot of the clothes in my wardrobe no longer fit me. And I was recently looking at uh a YouTube by Taty and she got her color analysis done for her color the colors of her her hair and the eyes and the skin and she got a consultant to do that and I thought wouldn’t it be fun for me to do the same and I thought I would ask Chad GDP and the funny thing about CHDP is I I love it um GTP GPT. Anyway, there’s a new one called Claude. I think I’ll just refer you to Claude because it’s easy for me to pronounce. Anyway, I went on to Claude and chat and I uploaded a photo of me in natural light without any makeup and also with makeup. And I said to the AI, “Please identify what my seasonality is, my color season is.” And both um decided that I am a true warm autumn neutral base. And they both provided me with a list of the colors that would suit me. With that in mind, I thought we would go through my wardrobe, do a major declutter of all the things that I cannot possibly wear because they’re just falling off me, and then decide what stays and what goes. I’ve also recently received four new dresses from a company called Lintico. And the reason why I accepted to work with them is because the brand works with all natural products. All their dresses are all linen. So, they’re breathable, they’re cool, they’re the dresses are, look at this one. This is one of the options. The dresses are just flowy. They’ve got this one has got pockets. It’s lined. It’s got or two layers underneath. And I just love it. And coincidentally, this color falls smack bang inside my warm autumn seasonality. So, I’ll introduce those dresses later on because some of them I chose in colors that I absolutely love, but they don’t necessarily love me. So, I’m going to show you how I’m going to tweak them so that they actually match more my seasonality and don’t drain my colors as opposed to enhance them like this beautiful green dress does. So, I’m going to go in my wardrobe, grab a number of dresses, and together we’re going to decide whether they stay or they go. Let’s just wait there. Don’t go anywhere. I’m just going to go in my wardrobe. Okay, I’ve grabbed a few and let’s start with the ones that I now know just do not work for me. Now, this color here, I’m sorry, I’ve got to use a ring light because it’s a very gray, gloomy Melbourne day here. This color here, I absolutely love. When you see it close to my face, you can immediately see that the color is overtaking me. Look at this beautiful green. This green compliments my skin. This green doesn’t. So, I know that this color is um although a beautiful dress and a beautiful color, it’s just not for me. This one here on the other hand, although it’s a similar green, it does have some beige in it. And beige is a color that really goes with my skin tone of being a warm autumn. It’s also a little bit more mild as a color. So, I think this one works for me with my skin tone. Shall we do a fun activity? Take a photo and ask Chat GDP to see whether this color suits you or not. Okay. So, let’s put this I guess my face. Okay. So, I’ve just asked Chad GP Chad GPT um as a warm autumn, does this fabric flatter me? And basically the answer is short answer yes. This works very nicely on you. Here’s why it flatters you. the warm undertone match. The green has a golden earthy base that harmonizes with your skin rather than contrasting it. Actually, shall we check with the other green whether whether my idea was correct or not? My opinion or my knowledge? Let’s check, shall we? Aha, I was correct. So, this color here according to GPT says this one tells a different story. For warm autumn, this green is a bit off. It leans cooler and brighter, almost a spring or even slightly jewel tone green rather than the warm earthy olive from the previous photo here. What it’s seeing on you slight draining effect. Contrast feels sharper and the eyes don’t pop as much. How cool is that? I was correct. So, I’m slowly learning about what works and what doesn’t work. I don’t know. I’m addicted to chat GPT. If you ever have a little bit of time and you’d like to analyze your colors, go for it. It’s so much fun. Okay, let’s have a look at this. Oh, this color is very faded blue. I would say it’s probably going to say no, but let’s give it a go. Okay, so this one says, “This is one is actually the clearest contrast so far, and it really helps confirm your coloring for warm autumn. This blue is not in your ideal range. It’s a cool, saturated royal cobble blue.” And here’s what it’s doing. Skin looks cooler, paler. The warmth in your complexion is less visible. Feature contrast increases sharply. and the eyes lose harmony. How cool is that? You know, I’ve actually always loved this color and I’ve worn it, but knowing that it doesn’t flatter me makes me realize that perhaps not every color that I love works for me and that I don’t need to feel sad about it because I’m obviously, you know, you get to a certain age like me, if you’re in your late 50s like me, you kind of always feel like you should know more or I do. I feel like I should know more about what suits me or what doesn’t suit me. And sometimes I’ll wear a dress like this and I will feel really pretty, but I’ll actually look really salow. And I think then I would start adding makeup to make it work, but on a really hot day, I don’t want to wear makeup. Um, so it’s good to know that I can put this away without feeling guilty. I’ve had some good use out of it. But it’s good to know. Oh my goodness, I am so happy. And I know um I should wear whatever I feel like wearing. and I do. But it’s good to know that some clothes don’t work as well as others. Let’s try this color. Now, I know look how many clothes I have in this color. How many dresses? I love this color. Fisher is probably one of my favorite favorite colors. But, okay, let’s try that one. That one. Beautiful colors, right? That one, and this one. Okay, so this is fun. I’ve uploaded these four dresses sequentially. So, the bright fuchsia one, this one here first, then the predominantly pink one, this one, then the multicolored one with the blue color in it, and then the fuchsia one. Now, let’s see what it says. The bright first one. This is a quite It says this is a quite cool and high chroma. Similar issue to the blue. It pulls pink blue in your skin. feels a bit separate from you. Slightly harsh contrast. And that’s why I love this color. That’s why I’ve never worn this. I actually have this in a black and I have it in this pink. And this pink I only wore once. And I just didn’t feel that it complimented me as well as the black did. How weird. Because black is also not a color that really goes with my skin seasonality. But this one is going to be put away. Now, what does it say about the red one? Red and white. This one is a better direction, but still mixed. The red is cooler, blue based. The white adds stark contrast. Overall effect, a bit busy and slightly draining. So, that’s going. This one, the multicolored warm print. The third one, this one is very telling and very good. It contains warm pinks, terracotta, soft teal, and brown. The warmth echoes your natural tones. Your face looks balanced and alive. Eyes feel integrated, not overshadowed. So, this can stay because even though I would have thought that the pink would have been the wrong color for my seasonality, because of the blend of the oranges and the browns and the warmer tones, it actually can work on me. So, this one stays. And I’m curious about the last one. This is interesting. Oh, okay. So this pink one, the deep rose berry, it’s borderline slightly cool berry undertone, but it’s softened and deeper. So it works better than the bright pink. Your face still holds its own. It’s not perfect, but very wearable, especially for a dressier look. How interesting. So I’m going to keep this one in my wardrobe. Now, this is a size 14. And because it’s a cross body like that, I can actually wear it. So, it’s not a problem. All these dresses are fine. And shall we go and grab some more clothes? Let me try this one here. I really love this dress. I bought it for a wedding and I just I felt beautiful in it. Now, let’s see what chat says. And then this dark blue. Now, these are all dresses that I can wear because they’ve got a tie around the waist. They’re not falling off me. This will be interesting because I love blue. I love this navy blue. Okay, so the first dress apparently is actually quite interesting. It helps refine your palette even more. Okay. Oops. So, this one here, this fabric is soft, light, and warm leaning, but also a bit washed out for you. What’s working? The warm page coral and soft yellow tones are very much in line with a warm autumn palette. The overall blended watercolor effect is harmonious. Nothing is jarringly cool. Your face still looks balanced and natural, not drained. What’s not quite right? The lightness and sheerness reduces your definition. The white very pale background creates a slight disconnect. The features don’t anchor into the fabric the way they did with the deeper tones. In simple terms, the colors are right, but the intensity is too low. Okay, so compared to your best look so far, better than the cobalt blue and the bright pink, not as strong as the olive green and warm deeper prints. How to make this type of palette work for you? If you like these airy florals, go for cream, not white background. Slightly deeper version of these same colors and a bit more contrast or grounding, adding a warm cardigan or a deeper layer. Wow. I see. I would have thought that this color would have complimented me, but apparently not. Now, the solid dark navy. This is a better color than the cobalt blue, but still not ideal. The depth works for you, but the undertone is still cool. It slightly dulls your warmth and softens your natural glow. Think acceptable neutral but not enhancing. Okay, so I think I’ll put that aside. And then this one here, I think would probably be the same. This one’s a bit trickier and actually slightly less flattering. The cool navy blaze uh base is still there. The white contrast adds sharpness that doesn’t harmonize. It creates a more graphic, high contrast effect that competes with your features. It feels a bit separate from you rather than integrated. Compared to your best color so far, both of these fall behind. Wow. How cool is this? Oh my goodness. I’m addicted. But let’s try something else because I feel like this is going to take forever. And I do actually want to go through my whole wardrobe with you, but I might put it at the end of the video so that if you want to click off, you can. But what I thought I would do is show you the other three dresses that I got from Lintico and show you how they can work and do work for me. Even though they’re slightly not quite right in the color for my seasonality, but I can make them work because I just love the linen and the fabric. So, it’s one of those like when you look at your color season and your color chart, of course, you’re going to say it’s easy to say, “Okay, well, that pink really doesn’t work for me.” So, it’s a straight out no. But there are some colors that you think, “Oh, I love that color. I absolutely love that color and I want to wear it and I choose to wear it.” So, there’s nothing that says you can’t wear any color in the rainbow. So, I’m going to show you some beautiful colors that I absolutely love and how now that I know my color chart, how I can make them, my color season, how I can make them work with me despite the fact that straight off the bat you would think, “No, that’s not going to work for you.” Now, look at this beautiful dress. I love it. I love the way it fits. I love the pockets. I love the neckline. I love these faux pockets here and the fact that it’s got real pockets here. I love the little shoulder, the little cap sleeves. They’re just so adorable. It just gives me such a Jackie Kennedy or Nasa’s 1960s7s vibe about it. Absolutely love this dress. However, according to the season chart, the season colors, this doesn’t do as well on my skin tones as uh say would on a spring tone, someone with more of a pale pink uh color option on their skin. On me, on my very tanned olive uh more golden toned skin tone, this apparently doesn’t work. However, let’s see how we can make it work. Now, isn’t this dress absolutely beautiful? It has beautiful pockets. Has this gorgeous fob pocket detailing at the waist. Because of the detailing here, it just kind of cinches in the skinniest part, the smallest part of my body. All these dresses are a medium, by the way, that I’ll be trying on for you. So, you can see what they look like on me. I love the length. It comes to midcfe. So, it’s just a beautiful color. I love it. I love contrasting also or complimenting this dress or this color with a beautiful tan nude sandals. It just goes so well. I absolutely love it. It does have a zip at the back. These dresses are so well made. Let’s try and bring it in now into my warm autumn. I have this scarf which technically has none of the colors that are on this dress, but it does hold all the warm autumn colors that suit my skin. So if I incorporate now this scarf around my face like this, now the dress is no longer the main feature, but the scarf becomes the main feature. And if I then add a beautiful pop of gold with this necklace. Ignore the microphone cuz otherwise you won’t be able to hear me. Now the necklace elongates the neckline. The colors close to my face enhance my color and the dress color becomes the backdrop for this color selection. My shoes complement the scarf. The gold complements my skin tone and the colors of the scarf near my face complement my skin tone. The dress is just a beautiful accessory and I can now wear it even though I’m a warm autumn. So, how fun would it be for you to go through your wardrobe and decide to play around with dresses that perhaps you think, “Oh, I don’t know. Whenever I wear that, my skin looks a little bit salow or I don’t look as bright or as energetic.” Maybe try a few accessories near your face like I did with this dress. And bam, now the dress is not only perfect in itself, but it’s also perfect for my color selection, for my color season, for my warm autumn. What do you think? Let me know in the comments below. Do you know your colors? Do you have something in your wardrobe that you absolutely adore, but you know that when you wear it, probably doesn’t look as good on you as it should? How about trying a scarf? Let me know in the comments below how you go with that. This is dress number two from Lintico. Let me go and do a quick wardrobe change and I’ll try on another one. Here is another Lintico dress. This one is probably my favorite because it’s one of those dresses you can throw on, go about your day, and just know that with just a few tweaks, it’s become an elevated outfit. I love the fact that it’s all linen. This is all linen, so all breathable. If you’re suffering from hot flushes, you’re not going to persspire in this because it’s a living, breathing fabric. It’s a full length, so if you want to wear it down, you can. But I’ve added these gold bracelets. And what you do, I only got them on Amazon, you roll it up and now suddenly the sleeves are a little bit more jouched and the dress looks a little bit more effortless chic. I’ve added a nice gold necklace which really suits my warm autumn tones. I’ve added chunky earrings just to make it pop a little bit more. And I feel effortlessly put together in this dress which I absolutely love. If you want to go for a walk along the beach and you just want to cover up your shoulders and your arms because you’re worried about getting sunburnt. Look at that. Isn’t it just too cute? I think this dress is absolutely adorable. It is effortless and yet I feel like I’m really put together with this. I just love the feature of the little cape at the back. It just adds a certain I think. And I just love this dress. What do you think? It’s perfect for those days where you’re going to go out for lunch and you want to make sure you’re not wearing anything too tight around your waist that’s going to block your digestion. This is perfect. Absolutely perfect. And the color sits smack in the middle of my color palette. And although some people don’t like beige, I’m a fan of beige. I just find that it’s so elegant and chic. And you can add color to it if you want to. Like I could add this gorgeous scarf to it over the shoulders. And I just think it just adds a pop of color and the color of the dress just again becomes the backdrop for the accessories that you want to add to it. Love it. Love it. Love it. Scarf. And if you just want to do something silly and tie a scarf around your hair just like that to keep your hair off your face, here’s another way of adding color to an outfit that’s sort of fun and, you know, easy breezy but still look pulled together. What do you think? Let me know in the comments below which one of these new dresses is your favorite. I have one more to go. Let me show it to you. And here’s the final lintico dress. Look how pretty it is. I love this style of dress cuz it’s just not your standard loose fitting dress. I love the the nicities that they’ve added to it. Look at this beautiful pocket that they’ve got here, but there isn’t one here because on this side it’s actually got this gorgeous pleing just to add something a little bit more different. The detailing of the sleeves is just perfectly pressed and made. The stitching, if you know how to sew, then you really appreciate when dresses are made right. And this is one of those dresses that’s perfectly made, perfectly sewed, perfectly stitched, and it just looks so adorable. The pleing detail is repeated along the back. It’s a very loose, free flowing dress, which is perfect for summer. I’m wearing it with a slip only because in the sun I don’t like to have those um the sun shows through, but it’s thick enough that you wouldn’t have that problem, I don’t think, with this dress. But I absolutely love it. I just love the easy breezy style of this dress. It is just adorable and it is just so easy to wear. Now though, according to my color palette, my warm autumn, apparently this dress isn’t as flattering on me as the green color dress is. So, let me show you how I would tweak this to make it more warm, autumn friendly. So, I have this uh mustardy golden scarf. I can add this to the top of the dress, tie it up, and then add that necklace again. And because the warmer colors are closer to my face, this becomes warm autumn friendly again. I don’t know. I can’t say that I’m really good at doing this kind of stuff, but I feel now I’ve nailed it a little bit better. So, I can wear this dress that wouldn’t necessarily sit in my color palette of warm autumn, but because I’ve got the accessories that bring in the gold and the warm tones closer to my face, then this dress fits in my wardrobe. Thank you to Lintico for helping me with this video and providing these beautiful pieces. If you want to know anything more about them, please check out the description box below where everything will be provided for you. Now, let me just go and throw the green dress again because that’s probably one of my favorites out of this whole collection. Okay, let’s have a look at the rest of the dresses in my wardrobe. These are all my summer dresses. It’s all I’m going to be able to do today cuz it is quite a big job. So, these are dresses that I’ve bought recently that I absolutely love because they’re just so comfortable. But now that I know my color palette, I’m kind of not sure whether this one here, this red, actually works or not. I mean it is a rusty readyy color rather than fuchsia red. So I think this works on me. Let’s have a look. Okay. So yes, this definitely does. So this stays. I would say that this orange definitely would because orange is the color of autumn. All those beautiful orange rusty colors here. I love the green dress. Absolutely love this color. But I don’t know whether it’s a little bit too much um for my color. I would say yes, it should work. So, let’s try, shall we? Okay. Yes, it does. So, now I think we can be a little bit quicker on what works and what doesn’t work. I would say this doesn’t work because of the pink and the pale blue. This works because it’s a very neutral beige. This one, I feel this one would work because it does have the orange in it. Shall we ask Ch? Okay. No. Even though this has got the orange and beige, the blue leans cool. So, this one doesn’t go. I wonder whether this one will cuz this has got beige next to it. I think this one would. Okay, so this one’s interesting cuz I see I would have thought that with the beige next to it that this would be a yes. But apparently it’s a borderline leaning to know because the deep navy near black is quite cool and a bit heavy for warm autumn which usually prefers warmer softer colors like espresso, warm charcoal or deep olive. The beige lines help slightly by adding warmth but they’re not enough to fully balance the cool base. Overall effect it looks a bit severe and takes attention away from your natural warmth rather than enhancing it. Oh wow. And I would say the same with this dress and this dress. This one surely though would sit in my color palette. Let’s have a look. I mean, it’s a blatant brown. Yes, this one works. Okay, I’m getting the hang of this. Okay, that one should work. But this dress is too big on me now. This one won’t work cuz I think it actually Let’s ask Chad GDP because my initial thought is that this won’t work because the green is a bit cool. But hey, let’s check it out. Wow, it’s actually very good for warm autumn. The green is warm leaning, more teal, olive than blue. Okay, there you go. See, I’m still learning. And there’s a lot to learn. This would definitely be perfect. But it’s a size 16. And it just I don’t think it fits me anymore. So, that’s going to have to go. I’m not sure about this color. Do you think that this would be an autumn color? Let’s check it out. Okay, that’s interesting. So although this would be, you know, technically an autumn color, it says yes, but it’s not my best. What works? This is a warm earthy golden beige, which is absolutely in the warm autumn family. It harmonizes your coloring. Nothing clashes or looks off. What’s missing? It’s a bit flat and light for you. You naturally carry medium depth. So this doesn’t give enough contrast to really bring you to life. Compared to terracotta or warm red, it doesn’t add that same glow or definition. So, I slightly washed low energy near my face. There you go. Oh my goodness. Okay. So, this is a no. This I no longer like. This surely is a winner. Surely this will be a winner. Yes. Let’s try. Let’s see what happens. Yes. Okay. So, this says it’s mixed but overall yes with caveats. What’s working? The warm orange rust section is excellent for you. Very autumn and very flattering. The cream base is softer than white so it’s workable. The overall palette leans warm and earthy, which suits you. What’s not ideal? The black is quite stark and a bit harsh for warm autumn. Now, I think it’s picked up this dark navy as black. Yeah, I don’t. It’s more like a charcoal black. All right. I think I’m getting the hang of this. This is going to have the same issue as this dress. It’s going to be too washed out near my face. Navy blue. Oh, I love navy blue. This beautiful rust color I think is perfect. This one stays. It’s actually the front. That’s the front and that was the back. This one stays. I would say that this is perfect. Let’s ask shape GPT. Now I could waste days on shape GPT. Just plain like this. Yes, it’s a very strong border. Strong. Yes. Borderline excellent. Oh wow. This is a deep warm red ox blood brick. A classic warm autumn power color. It has enough depth to match your natural contrast. Unlike the lighter beige, the warmth is clear, not blue based. So, it enhances rather than fights your undertone. Okay. I thought this would be a definite yes. All right. So, we know then blue. Blue is a no. And now I just have these two. I would say that this would definitely work because it’s not a white white. It’s a cream white. And it’s got some beautiful warm colors in it. There are some pinks and some blues, but overall I would say that this would be a yes. And I feel like this red might be borderline cuz actually throws a little bit more cool red. Let me just check these last two and then I think we’re done. The bottom one red by a mile. Oo. Okay, so that was the one that I thought maybe not, but is definite. Yes. The cream one. The base reads a bit cool or flat on you. The darker and blue detail pulls slightly off palette. The effect is pleasant, but you fade slightly into it. How interesting. So, definitely red is my power color and it’s the one to go with. Oh my goodness. So, I have a whole heap of clothes that I need to remove. It’s good to know though now that I have a good color base to work with. And I know now that all those colors will actually enhance my colors, my natural colors, and therefore make me look my best. Especially at a stage in life where we do tend to feel a little bit washed out. Our colors aren’t as bright and sharp as they were perhaps when we were younger. I know my hair was a different color. Now with the black and white, the salt and pepper, I feel like it washes me out sometimes. But I feel now that I’ve got the right color combination of dresses, knowing that I’m a warm autumn will definitely help me going forward to choose the best colors for me that will resonate more with the natural colors that I have without clashing with them, making me feel dry or look sick, which I often feel a few colors actually do that. So, thank you for spending your time with me. I hope you enjoyed it. I hope you discovered a new brand with Lintico. Check them out in the description box below are all the details. And I hope that you’ll actually go and check out your color selection on chat GDP GPT and find, you know, and have some fun one afternoon where you’re sort of feeling a little bit blah. Go and play around with the clothes in your wardrobe and see what AI says suits you or doesn’t suit you and what your color selection or your season is. Let me know in the comments below whether you do try that and uh yeah, what you thought of this style of video. Until next time, my friends. Have a lovely day wherever you are and thank you for watching.
