Midweek Reset Routine – Tidy, Slow Down & Recharge

After a few busy days, my [music] home and my mind are start to feel cluttered. So today, I am pressing reset. [music] Fresh linen, a quick kitchen rescue, putting life back where it belongs. Even a [music] quiet walk through the garden to see what’s ready to harvest. Nothing extreme, nothing overwhelming, just simple rituals that bring calm [music] back into the week. It’s Wednesday, the week after the engagement and Monday, Tuesday I had to work and then today is pretty much the day where I said I’m going to take the day off and there are a lot of areas in my house that aren’t dirty but they just need to be reset. I need to put things away. There’s all those decor pieces that are just sitting on my coffee table and in the outdoor alfresco and on the benchtop that I just need to corral into a nice big tub and then put away in the garage. I need to change my sheets or wash them and put them away. I’ve just got stuff all over the place and I thought we’re all the same. We’re all in the same boat. things just end up piling up when life gets busy and hectic and we just look around us and then we think, “Oh, I can’t be bothered.” But with you resetting your home along with me, I think I can get it done really much. But okay, let’s go put these. Actually, since it’s only these, I might grab the towels as well from the bathroom. And I also have a set of books here that need to be returned to the library. I’ll try and do that later today or maybe tomorrow morning after the gym. mugs and my to-do list that I made yesterday. Okay, let’s start the day. There’s always dishes left over from the night before because somehow for some reason I find that I just don’t have the energy at night and I’m quite content to just let things sit on the bench top for me to fix in the morning. Last night we had leftover meatballs from the weekend in sauce and we had a friend over. He seems to have some sort of condition lately that just stops him from being able to swallow. And we thought he actually might have had like an allergic reaction to something that were in the meatballs because poor guy he just started choking and unable to swallow. And anyway um yeah so he ended up getting better but he just could not eat anything. In fact he was at the party on Saturday night and he said that he had the same reaction on Saturday night when he had the meatball. So, we don’t know whether it’s like a a reaction, an allergic reaction to an ingredient or whether he’s got an obstruction in his throat. So, it was very very scary. Um, you know, he’s a couple of years older than Kevin, so you kind of worry, don’t you, when you get to a certain age that new things can happen and you really need to be careful about it. So, look how cute these are. Tiffany bought these online and they’re a momento of the engagement. It says Tiffany and Lohan. How cute is that? I’m going to have to pack them up somewhere for her so that she can keep them. So, I might do that now. I might actually put them in and then put them in a Snaplo bag. Let me write on what they are. I bought this online. We did end up using it, but I’ll put it in with the tub of all the decor pieces for events. Hopefully, it’ll get used then. Also didn’t end up using these and these little stands. They also didn’t get up get up um end up getting used. They were just little pretty little um cards, timber cards where you could put food names down, but they didn’t end up getting used. And I’ve got the ribbon. Maybe I’ll put all that there. Oh my goodness, flies. Ever since Saturday, the house has been inundated with flies. And no matter how much I spray them, they just don’t die. Are you hungry? Are you hungry? What is it? Well, you got a knot there. Are you coming out with me? Are you coming out with me? Come on. You coming? Let’s go. you coming too? Let’s go. There’s things everywhere from the party still. Just little bits that need to be put away like this box of veils and the wires that were holding it up. The boxes and the buckets. Um, that’s washing that I did that I need to fold and put away. What are you two doing? What are you two doing? The bins are overflowing. We have so much rubbish. Uh-uh. Off. Off. Off. Off. Off. Off. Off. Let me show you the beautiful pumpkins that are just coming up. I don’t know how to cook these. I’ve never had these pumpkins before. But look. Aren’t they beautiful? And there’s so many in there. Look at that. And this back one. And I mean, this back one here has heaps. Let me show you while I’m out here. Let’s do a little bit of maintenance, shall we? [snorts] Hey, Gucci. You want to come inside? You want to come inside? Let’s go. Let’s back here some of this first, shall we? By the way, can I tell you a little bit about this bag? This is the Teddy Blank bag that I received probably about 6 months ago, and I absolutely love it. It is big enough that it can carry basically extra shopping bags, my wallet, my sunglasses, ah the collar for my dog, and I have my car keys. What have I got here? Oh, a receipt, tissues, and stamps. Okay, that can be thrown out. And then on the inside there is a beautiful pocket and it’s just finished with leather. You can see that this is pure leather inside and out. And I love this type of leather. What’s this called? Suede. So, it’s sort of like suede on the inside and then pebbled leather on the outside. And I’ve had it for 6 months. I’ve been using it regularly and it looks just as good as it did on the first day. Inside the zip pocket, I’ve actually got the strap that it comes with. This is a thin strap with the hooks. But for me, I prefer now a nice big chunky guitar strap because because the bag can lean itself to being able to carry basically anything but your kitchen sink. It can get heavy because of everything that you put on it. So, I find that I prefer wearing it cross body with the chunky leather strap, which was an additional extra, but I just love it. Look, it’s got the Teddy Black New York stamp on it as well. I love it in the gold. I find that it matches all my gold jewelry. I actually love this bag. And what I love about it is that it’s got that throwback to something a little bit more expensive. and without actually having to spend a heck of a lot for it. But the quality is just as good as a more expensive brand. I love this style because it’s just so easy to just open like that. And I tend to carry it like this so that I can easily put my hand in it. But because I carry a cross body over my front, you can’t really no one can actually get their hand in there to to grab anything um that they shouldn’t be grabbing. And I find that it looks just as beautiful like this with the tags just hanging loose as it does fully closed like this. I love this bag and I highly highly recommend it. And this the Gigi Scampa in 11 in in camel brown. It’s a beautiful color that goes with absolutely everything and it’s become my everyday grab and go. The design comes from Italian designers connected to major luxury houses and the leather is beautiful, high quality Italian leather that’s made to last. It’s handcrafted in Italy by experienced artisans with the same attention to detail you’d expect from much more expensive brands. I love that it delivers that luxury feel without paying purely for a label and it’s just aging so well. There’s not a scratch, not a mark on it. And trust me, I don’t handle my bags delicately. They get thrown in the card. They get thrown on the floor. And this bag looks just as good today as it did 6 months ago when I first received it. I love it. These are the tablecloths that we had for the trestle tables. This is the brand. We got it from Bunnings Marquee. It’s 100% polyester uh trestle tablecloth in white and they were perfect. These are the wires that we used to hang these sails from. I ended up buying 12 for the size of the alfresco for us and that was the perfect number. Oh, I think I might need two buckets. These are beautiful. Tiffany bought these from Sheen and they were just so cute. It’s veiling with pearls on it and they were so pretty. Just laid over the table. They’re like table runners. Uhhuh. [laughter] Uh uh uh. Off off. Uh-uh. And I ended up wrapping it around the wishing well as well, which I thought was really cute, but that’s not needed anymore. This will be needed next year. Goodness me. I don’t know if I’m going to be fitted everything. I was actually going to fit the vasees with the flowers as well in here. I don’t know that that’s going to happen. We ended up having to steam these before we used them, obviously. And these were the round tablecloths that in hindsight I should have bought in 3 m lengths. Why is it that when you put something back, it never quite fits the way you purchased it? These were so tiny in the boxes and now they’re not full of air. Suppose I could use one of those airfree bags. You know, the ones that you sort of take the air out of them. That might work, but I don’t know. I don’t quite think it’s going to fit. We’ll see. We’ll see. I was so pleased with how these this arrangement turned out. I somehow don’t think this is all going to fit in there. I’m going to have to go and get another box. It’s way too much. [snorts] Okay, I’ve brought another big tub in because I’m thinking I will put these away. I do like them. I’m not sure that I would use them for home decor. They’re so cute. I just love them. I love the way they turned out. I think I might just put the boxes in here and put all the fabrics in that tub. Um, [sighs] I think I also got room to put this in here. These can’t be returned, so they’ll go in here. I think I’d like to keep all the fabrics in the one. These had to be returned to Costco. We didn’t end up using them. And now I’ll give the couch a quick rub down so that I can remove all of the dog and cat fur that accumulates on it. It’s amazing how much fur our pets shed. And this little contraption that I bought from the States is actually really good at picking every single bit of them off. Okay, the house is starting to look a little bit more normal. These flowers need to be put away. for next time. These are things that I have in my office cuz that’s where the rest of them are. Let’s give this room a bit of a tidy up. It’s a frame that I broke. I wonder if Tiffany wants to keep this. I don’t think we need this anymore. It has to go away. A beautiful subscriber sent me this. Isn’t that gorgeous? As I said, you don’t have to send me gifts. How pretty. [sighs] Now moving away from my office, there is a job that I’d like to do. I have these liies here. I’m a huge fan of lilies. I absolutely love them. But some of the flowers are dying. So, I’m just going to trim the ones that are dying and hope that these ones that haven’t opened yet will open. I got these at Aldi last week just before the engagement. Oops. This one is dying. Oops. These flies are annoying me. Not sure if these ones will actually open. What do you think? You think these will actually open? They look like they’re about to. Maple, come here with that flower. It’s a little thief. A little thief. Look at her. Maple, that flower is not good for you. No. Huh? Thank you. Thank you. Good girl. Good girl. I [snorts] think this smells. Alaska has done her business on it, and even though I cleaned it, it stinks. And then when Maple sits on it, she smells. Might have to work something out there. I’m sorry, sweetheart. You can’t use that one. It makes you smell. Now I need to do a little bit of work for Kev. I love the smell of lavender. It’s absolutely beautiful. And now I have to do some work on my own channel. So I think I’m done. The washing will need to be done soon or put in the dryer to dry. And then I have to do is make my bed. Oh, and do my nails. Actually, I might actually do that now because what I want to do is put some more of this color that I really liked. So, let’s do that, shall we? I really like this color. It is the Sally Hansen Insta Dry in color 203 buff and tumble. Since I’ve stopped going to the salon to do my nails, which is good. It’s taken a good probably say couple of months um for me to see an improvement. And even since I’ve stopped doing the uh at home gel, my nails are feeling so much better and are actually growing. Hey, just one coat is enough, I find, to cover my nails. I might give it a second coat later. They dry really quickly, so I’m not too fast. But otherwise, a neutral color like this just looks really pretty and delicate, but tidy as well. [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] Now I’m just going to make myself [music] a cup of tea. Ah, while I sit and watch Mr. Mercedes as I fold clothes. It’s just one of those dark psychological mysteries that just hook me. I always feel so much better when things around me look tidy. It’s like a clean desk is a clean mind.
